Living in Alaska for 27 years Devon McKay has many exciting stories to tell about the state. On several occasions, she was chased by a mother moose defending her young, stalked by a bear, endured temperatures of forty below and once was even trapped in an avalanche. Devon loved every minute of it! After writing her first novel, Cowboy On The Run, she changed scenery and now calls a small ranch in Ohio home with her loving husband and teenage son. Although the farm life is slightly more laid back then the perils of Alaska, Devon enjoys the slower pace of the country lifestyle which gives her plenty of time to follow her passion of writing.

Pretty good for a cheesey title

I read mainly fantasy but take a break from the genre for a bit of romance once in a while. I'm glad I chose this book. It was romance with a bit of mystery. It was a bit predictable but exciting as well. The romance wasn't infant but a slow progression. There was a real bad dude trying to thwart them. My only complaint was there was no closure with some of the characters. But on the whole a satisfying read. It accomplished what I needed, a great escape.

Fantastic!

I really enjoyed this story. It kept me interested, which can be hard to do. The story was well written and I loved it. So glad I bought it even though I read the reviews before I purchased the book and was confused how it got such great reviews and then a few not so great ones. After reading the book I realized the low reviews were simply petty. I thought Nate's behavior was typical of a man. And yes, he does redeem himself later in the book. Of course you have to keep reading it to understand and I don't want to spoil the ending. As far as Jessie goes - she was strong and sassy. The perfect heroine. She has a close relationship with her family and I found the kids absolutely endearing. I'm glad I took a chance on this book and would recommend reading it.

Great Story & Believable Characters

I really liked this book. I thought the writing was freaking amazing, the story and characters were believable, and there was a definite sensuality running throughout the book. Yeah, Nate was a little annoying but that was honest: people are like that, they make mistakes...and in the end, he comes through. Jesse was wonderful and also honest in depiction. I felt like I knew her. I would read other things from this author because I can see the beginnings of a really great romance writer: one who writes sexy, well-plotted storylines with realistic characters you can care about. Devon McKay is only going to get better and better and I want to ride along side her while she does.
