Doesn't quite do the aircraft justice

The 102nd book in the long running Warpaint series is a 48 page, 8-1/4" x 11-3/4", stapled card cover. It covers the large Convair B-36 bomber. This is one of those subject choices that are difficult to do justice in the the Warpaint format. There are far better references on the B-36 to be had, especially Jacobsen's Convair B-36 and Jenkin's Magnesium Overcast. Indeed, the latter does not cost that much more than the present volume. So unless this book offers something those don't it will appeal only to Warpaint completists (like me). The price isn't particularly competitive so the main attraction will be Richard J. Caruana artwork.

This book offers 7 pages of color profiles with 3 color schemes per page. In addition the centerspread has (most of) a four view. These are all complemented by excellent renditions of various unit insignia. There is an unfortunate production error where a profile caption is repeated. More seriously, to make room for the centerspread the conventional line drawings of this series had to be omitted.

Author Kev Darling's text is only adequate. The coverage is fairly broad but not particularly deep. He also makes some odd choices about what to focus on. The XB-60 coverage rivals the XB-36 in depth. The various parasite programs get more attention than a book of this size would warrant as does the XC-99 and NB-36 programs. Oddly, the nuclear propelled X-6 does not get a mention.

There are a few mistakes and a few typos although sometimes one wonders if the latter really are typos. The rather massive NB-36 top hatch is referred to as a radiation detector in one photo caption. And I think the author meant to say the the brake parachute would *not* be needed to bring the XB-60 to a stop.

There is a nice selection of photos, both in black and white and color, but most seem familiar. The fine color cover photo has been used for the cover of another B-36 book. There are the usual selection of tables - specifications, production, units, and models and accessories. It must be difficult to find display space for the various 1/72nd Revell/Monogram kits.

Summing up, this one offers more value to the modeller than the general enthusiast. Nothing really egregiously wrong with this book but there are better choices.

Not quite as strong as Moon Called, but still worth five stars.

Blood Bound picks up not too long after the first in the series, Moon Called. Introduced to mechanic and sometimes-coyote, Mercedes Thompson in book one we get to dive right back into her world. A walker raised by werewolves, trained in mechanics by a fae and friend to vampires and ghosts, Mercy's world is far from ordinary. Blood Bound finds her vampire friend Stefan calling on her for return of a favor from Moon Called (book one). There's a new vampire in town and he's brought a demon with him. From here the story takes off at a stop-start pace involving both the local wolf pack and the vampire seethe, even getting some of the fae involved. But it is Mercy's ability to speak to ghosts that is in high demand and eventually she saves the day.

With diverse characters carried over from the first book and a few new ones salted into this one there were no faces I missed. I look forward to more unique and enjoyable characters as the series continues. Her efforts to make Mercy a girl-next-door-who-just-happens-to-be-a-shapeshifter character who is a girl most readers can relate to are spot on. I won't compare her to other characters of books in this same genre because she tops them all in sheer likability.

As a native of the area Briggs' tale takes place in I was once again impressed with her knowledge of the region and pleased at how well she carried me back home through her accurate description of the simple things like the climate, local culture and real places within the area. The unique choice of location certainly adds to the story as cities like New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and such, while all wonderful places, have been over-used in similar series. Using an area not widely known has given this series a refreshing change from the cliched and expected.

If you enjoy a good paranormal tale with vampires, shapeshifters, ghosts and the like that won't get lost in between pages of sex scenes this series is for you. While there's still a tantalizing love triangle element I appreciate that Mercy is a very real woman who doesn't sport a harem of Adonis-like fellows at her beck and call. Briggs never loses the story's plot in attempts to hook her heroine up with her heroes.

Loved it even more the second time around!

I have so much love for this series! This was my second time reading this book and I can honestly say that I liked it just as much as I did the first and maybe even a bit more. One thing that I enjoy about re-reading books in series that I love is seeing how many things have changed for the characters. I love how some of the groundwork for future events takes root in earlier books.

The characters in this series are wonderful. Mercy is awesome. She has a wonderful sense of humor and she is tough. She knows that she is not as physically strong as many of the people she surrounds herself with but she more than makes up for it in mental toughness. She isn't afraid to take risks especially if it is the right thing to do. This book actually has a pretty big cast of characters and I really love them all. Adam and Sam are both great characters. The members of Adam's pack are all so well defined that they really stand out as individuals. I think it takes real skill to bring such a big group of characters to life.

The world building in this series is phenomenal. Everything just fits perfectly. It seems like each book adds another layer to the whole picture with complete consistency. I love all of the pack politics and learning about how all of these different groups have learned to live with each other. There were moments in this book that were quite creepy and I loved every moment of it.

I really enjoyed Lorelei King's narration. Her voice fits Mercy's character quiet well. It was really easy to follow and I thought she did a great job differentiating between all of the different characters. I also thought that she did a great job in displaying all of the different emotions of the story. I can't wait to continue this series in audio.

I would highly recommend this series to others. I think that anyone who enjoys urban fiction or paranormal stories should check out this series. I am a huge Patricia Briggs fan and can't wait to see what she can come up with next.

I am obsessed and intrigued with the character Mercy...she is not a werewolf, not Fae, she is a magical mystical
Native American walker, or shapeshifter who turns into a coyote. She gets into all sorts of trouble as she deals with vampires, fae and werewolves. Although Mercy does not belong to a pack she is under the protection of the head werewolf pack, as she was raised by them. Very intriguing which makes me off to read the next book in the series.

My favorite book from Lauren

Yes, this is my absolutely favorite book from Lauren Blakely.

We already knew Michael from the previous books, he's the more reserved of the Sloan family, we knew him like somebody too guarded of his feelings and the people who he lets in his life BUT in this book we get to know the real Michael, funny, romantic, flirty, and the man who wears his heart in his sleeve when it comes to Annalise.

Annalise was Michael's first love when they were only 16 years old. She's a French exchange student and they quickly started a young romance. However after she gets back to France they try to keep their relationship but after several years this one comes to an end.

I quickly fell in love with Annalise because she's really honest about her feelings. She already lost someone she loved and feels guilty about having this feelings toward Michael. She wants to welcome all she feels but at the same time she's afraid of how strong this feelings are, and she always talks about this with Michael.

Michael was totally a surprise for me. I never thought I'll meet this side of him, but we get to see his old self thanks to Annalise return.
He'd always loved Annalise and having her in his life again makes him hopeful of a future together. He's not afraid to show his feelings, however he's afraid that maybe is to soon to voice them and that she doesn't feel the same way toward him.

“I know how to say I love you and I’ve always loved you,
and I want you, and you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved, and I don’t know how to stop loving you. I love you, and that’s just a fact of my existence. "

And finally we get to know the true behind Thomas murder (Shannon, Ryan, Colin and Michael's dad). I must admit that I cried for this old man and I wish he was alive. We already knew the love his children had for him but to see all the things he wanted to do to give his children a better life was so heartbreaking. And to see this close relationship he had with Michael and the support he showed toward his romance with Annalise was what made me miss him and respect him so much.

Glad to know what happens to this story. Got closure for the murder of Thomas murder. Just a very unecessary long winded book.

Wow! I was not expecting this book to be so long and boring. I had to read it because its the 4th and final book in this series, but oh my was it hard to finish. I schemed through alot of pages. Just alot of rambling and details that wasn't needed for the point of the story.
**Spoiler alert**
Glad to have the finale behind me, glad to know all the killers got caught and got justice served to them and all the Sloan siblings are married, some with kids now.
I have 5 starred all of Lauren Blakely's previous books. Don't know what happened to her writing during this book. She just wasn't at her best.

Fantastic!!!! Must Read!!!!

Holy Cow! What a fantastic ending to a wonderful series. I loved Michael and Annalise. This story wrapped up all the question brought forth in the previous books about Thomas Paige's murder. It is full of suspense and keeps you wanting to read on to se what happens next. I love how the author goes back to the past to show how things came about.
Great read.

Great combo!

I love both of these items to use with my oils! That book is very handy to keep close by to look up whatever I need. It has an index in the front, which is a huge time saver. The Carrier Stick is great for on the go, but I like it at home too. It is a lot less messy than liquid carrier oils. It's a lot bigger than I anticipated too! I think it will last me quite a while!

I ordered another book about essential oils at the same time and find this one, as one of the other reviewers pointed out, an ad for a company that sells essential oils. I was left kind of non-pulsed after reading it and for the price ..... It isn't bad, just very prejudiced for a particular company of essential oils. I'll keep it for what it is, a reference book, but I will not be recommended it to anyone else.
