A wonderful story to keep a reader happy!

I've been reading this book far longer than I wanted to. Have you ever had a book on the `the go' that you couldn't wait to get back into but life kept getting in the way. This story ate away at me and finally I had to stay up late last night to finish it. Trust me, the lack of sleep was worth it. Jordan Brooks is a hero we'd all love to meet, a man who looks after others, going as far as being responsible for their futures. We see this in the members of his band, kids he's rescued. He's also a lover of women and song and grabs a hold of Shelby's heart and makes it his. In the beginning this cool-headed vet has no respect for a man playing dress up in clothes he hasn't earned the right to wear - cowboy clothes. But as time passes, she learns that there's nothing counterfeit about this guy at all. A wonderful story written by an author that knows how to tell a tale and keep the reader happy.

There is something about a bad attitude

There is just something that turns me off when the heroine has such a bad attitude. Judges people without even knowing them. Seems mad at the world. Constantly putting down and thinking of dirty work for the hero. I didn't finish. I got so tired of the heroine being such a bitch.
She is a vet and runs a horse training ranch. Just about broke, the prize stallion is stolen at a horse show. At the show, the latest country western singer has a concert. She decides he is a fake cowboy so she is constantly putting him down. I just wondered? When does singing country western mean you are trying to be a cowboy? She really gets a hate going for him because he is not out killing himself driving cattle, etc. Really?
He seems like a nice guy. Just loves his music and lives his life. He is attracted to her, not sure why, and she agrees to teach him to ride. So, she is determine to make him work till he drops to prove that life as a musician is a piece of cake compared to the hard working cowboy. Really?
I quit reading because I didn't really like her and wanted the hero to get out of Dodge and away from this person. I just found her snarky, bossy, not at all likable and I couldn't find myself wanting the very best for her. I didn't care for this one. Liked the hero, he seemed to be a nice guy. Her brother, Travis, seemed to be a good kid too. But, I didn't finish the book, maybe it got better but I wasn't willing to invest any more time in it.

Truly worth five stars. Interesting characters. Romance, intrigue, mystery,

The characters were well developed and mostly likeable. The guys were more sympathetic than the gals, but they were all interesting. I've never been to Canada, and really enjoyed the descriptions of the country. I thought the author did a fine job telling this story.
The reader doesn't have to like all the characters to admit that this book is well written and edited, especially for a free ebook. Just a few things that stopped me (with location numbers):
956 poorly constructed sentence. IMHO.
"I've been around four kids who only seem to be able to communicate in street lingo for too long."
"For too long I've been around four kids who seem to be able to communicate only in street lingo." is better IMHO.
1855 word left out?
2083 "TAUNT" instead of taut.
2759 word left out.
I can definitely recommend this book to all ages without reservation. It contains romance, tragedy, intrigue, mystery, and descriptions of ranch life and horse raising. I give very few five star reviews, but think this effort deserves that.
